All the practice exercises in the manual begin with navigation instructions to help you find the program files you need. That's very useful--unless you're on a different operating system! The good news is, the Mac interface is generally simple to navigate once you get the hang of it. The following instructions correspond to the ones that appear on pages 28-30 in the manual. They step you through the process of finding and opening the first FM demonstration program file. You can substitute the same process for the first couple of steps in all the subsequent practice exercises in the manual.
Launching FM and Opening Existing Programs
1. Launch FUNdaMENTAL: *Double-click the hard drive icon on your desk top. The hard drive window should appear. *Double-click the FUNdaMENTAL folder in the hard drive window. The FM folder window should appear. *Double-click the FUNdaMENTAL 2.2 icon. The FM Welcome window should appear.
2. Open an Existing Program: *Click the Open Existing Programs button on the sign post in the Welcome window. The Mac navigation window should appear. *Click the up/down arrows at the top of the box. A drop-down menu of folders should appear. *If you don't see a folder marked Manual Programs, click the FUNdaMENTAL folder in the list. The contents of the FM folder should appear in the scrolling list. *Double-click the folder marked Manual Programs. The contents of that folder should appear below. *Double-click the folder marked Practice. The contents of that folder should appear below. *Double-click the folder marked demo1. A demo1 icon and a library folder should appear. *Open this program by double-clicking the demo1 icon. You should now be looking at the main Task window for the demo1 program.
You can use all or part of these same instructions to open all the practice programs in the manual. To see sample solutions, simply choose the folder marked examples, instead of the folder marked practice inside the manual programs folder.
